then you can send an iMessages to the iPhone. If you start a New Message on the Mac and manually enter the iPhone Number (As the App will not call up your My Card info as it presumes you don't want to call yourself). The Mac can then send from it's Apple ID. On the Mac in Messages > Preferences > Accounts the Apple ID needs to be entered in the iMessages account. This means the iPhone can send iMessages from it's number (or SMS to other phones) The Send as SMS item then needs to be enabled so non iPhone (or Mac) contacts can get SMS as they can't do iMessages.

On the iPhone in Settings > Messages the App needs to be enabled. To get the Screen to look like that you have to have set up a Mac and iPhone as the features arrived on the apps on the two platforms.
